Bundling up in your favorite sweater is the essence of feeling like fall. From a warm wool pullover to your most cherished cashmere knit, these delicate wardrobe essentials deserve some extra tender love and care. Avoid laundering mishaps by hand washing your favorite fall pieces with these three simple rules:

Rule One: Keep it Cool

Despite keeping you warm, cashmeres and wools won’t survive if washed in too warm of water. Direct heat leads to shrinking, so when washing by hand be sure to only soak delicate sweaters in tepid temperatures.

Rule Two: Squeeze, Don’t Stretch

Wool is wonderfully elastic, but can become easily misshapen if handled carelessly. To avoid stretching your sweaters, ball up the garment and gently squeeze the water out without wringing the fabric too tightly.

Rule Three: Dry Flat

After squeezing out water, lay your sweater on a towel on a flat surface and gently roll the towel and sweater together to remove moisture. Squeeze gently as you work, eventually leaving the sweater to dry completely. Later, slowly coax the sweater back into its shape, and voilà! Your favorite fall sweater is washed and wearable all over again.

Hot and cold. Sun and moon. Fire and water. Our world is full of complementary, contrary forces. Elements that are opposing and yet somehow still harmonious, balanced and inherently natural. This theme - the beauty of dualities - is an inspiring force in almost every Caldrea scent, including Fragrance No. 15: Ginger Pomelo.

On one hand, Ginger Pomelo features the crisp, citrusy notes of grapefruit and yuzu. Light and fresh. Sweet and citrus.

On the other, the spicy heat of ginger. Energizing and invigorating. Tangy and sharp.

Like yin and yang, Ginger Pomelo blends the refreshing notes of citrus with the warmth of spicy ginger. Add in a sprig of fresh, cool basil and you are marrying three seemingly opposing fragrances, flavors, feelings. And yet...they masterfully mingle together in an uplifting, effervescent scent that is completely complementary, beautifully balanced.

Suitable for any season, ideal for every occasion, discover the beauty of dualities in our Fragrance No. 15, Ginger Pomelo.

Spring styling tips by House of Earnest

We’re so excited to have one of our favorite bloggers, Erin Souder, guest blog for us today.  Erin  is the founder and editor-in-chief of House of Earnest, a blog we love to follow for the latest in home décor, DIY and entertaining. Here she shows us her favorite way to integrate Caldrea into your home styling this spring.

As soon as fresh spring breezes and warmer temps start to become the norm, I get the itch to revamp some of the styling in my home to reflect the bright colors that are transforming outdoors. Using brightly colored candles, soaps, books, textiles, and flowers, styling a few key areas of our homes is such an easy seasonal switch.

Bedside Table - I recommend taking account of everything that you really want to have on the bedside, use these products into your styling so that the space works well for you! I always have a few books that I’m reading, some flowers, a catch-all for jewelry, and a sweet scent. Rosewater driftwood is my favorite for the bedroom and the subtle grey geometric design works well with lots of decor. Stack everything up nicely on the books while leaving taller items (like the vase) off the books to create height dimension. A beautiful little piece of art that makes you happy works perfectly on the bedside table since you’ll see it each morning and night.

Sink Surround - I always style the area surrounding my sink. I just don’t want doing dishes to be any more boring that it already is, so beautiful little bottles and blooms make a big impact. Mix and match soap scents that work well together - I use Mandarine Vetiver and Ginger Pomelo since they’re both citrusy and light. The yellow and orange colors work perfectly with a pretty striped towel that I love, so the whole look works. Add a candle for a little more style and to keep the sink area smelling nice and fresh.

Bookshelves - Taking up space in a bookshelf is one of the top things people struggle with when it comes to styling, but with this trick, it’s so simple. Stack a few books on their sides, top with three objects; one natural - like a vase of flowers or some greens from the yard, one metallic object or art piece, and one candle. Make sure each of these three things is slightly different in shape and height. The pattern on the candle not only brings more interest and dimension to the area, but it keeps the flames high out of reach. My living room is all in neutrals and navy, so the Blue Coriander is a natural decor choice!

Regardless of what area you’re wanting to restyle, use these tips to ensure your creation is balance, bright, and beautiful!

Fragrance No. 22: Black Coriander Lime

It is February and we are delighted to reveal a secret we've been brewing; our 22nd Fragrance, Black Coriander Lime, has launched just in time for spring. This fragrance will fill your senses with a fresh but spicy, clean but unfamiliar aromatherapy sure to lift your spirits.

We found inspiration abroad, as we often at Caldrea. This time it was Morocco that hit home with spice notes less common in our daily routines. Top notes of coriander and lemon leaves, middle notes of caraway and peppercorn, and bottom notes of cardamom and koa wood give it a glint of faraway travel. This light midnight scent could bring to mind the market of the souk; the handsome navy and blue on the labels echo the patterns of the medina. We have noticed a trend deepen in fashion and home decor where Moroccan influences have been modernized for bold interior design. Navy has become almost as common as black and just right for pairing with the nautical looks for spring.

Black Coriander Lime will fill an open spot in our fragrance categories right at the intersection of woody and herbal. Try one of the new products and breathe in Fragrance No. 22. for something unique and refreshing. We think your home and everyone in it will thank you.

Open-air and moonlit. This light midnight scent takes you on a journey. It begins at cool twilight–where dewy ferns and fresh limes gently deepen into more exotic hints of fennel and caraway, Koa woods and peppercorn spice. Wanderlust rewarded.
