Brown Sugar & Cayenne Spiced Nuts

By: Stella Blackmon, Clementine Daily

Nothing says the holidays like family traditions. Whether playing Johnny Mathis carols on repeat, unpacking heirloom ornaments, or hanging the final touch of juniper garland, we all have a tradition we hold dear.

For us it was snacking on spiced nuts still warm from the oven. Today, we’re sharing our treasured family recipe with a little extra kick! Fill a Mason jar and add some braided twine to transform the peppery snack into a simple, yet sophisticated present.

•            ½ tsp white pepper

•            ½ tsp chili powder

•            1 tsp cayenne pepper

•            1 tsp kosher salt

•            1 tsp cinnamon

•            1/2 cup brown sugar

•            1 egg white

•            3 cups of mixed nuts

1.           Preheat oven to 350 °.  In a small bowl, whisk white pepper, chili powder,
cayenne pepper, salt, cinnamon and brown sugar.

2.          In a large bowl, whisk egg white and then add mixed nuts. Coat evenly.

3.          Add in spice mixture and toss.

4.          Spread nuts in an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5.          Bake 15 minutes.

For the ultimate hostess gift, tuck a jar of nuts and a bottle of Juniper Laurel Mint Dish Soap in a contemporary wicker basket.

May your season be the sweetest and merriest yet. Bon appétit!
